Colchagua Wineries

Viña Santa Cruz

Located in Lolol, the Santa Cruz Winery is also a cultural experience wrapped in stunning views and award-winning wines. Established in the early 2000s by entrepreneur Carlos Cardoen, the winery was created with a unique vision — to celebrate Chile’s rich heritage while producing wines that reflect the character of the region.

Santa Cruz Winery is renowned for its bold reds, particularly Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenère, and Syrah, all grown under ideal conditions of warm days and cool nights. The winery also produces elegant whites, like Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, which showcase crisp, fruity profiles. Each wine is a reflection of meticulous vineyard management and modern winemaking techniques, resulting in balanced, expressive vintages that consistently earn praise both locally and internationally.

What sets Vina Santa Cruz apart is its commitment to creating a multidimensional visitor experience. Guests can explore replicas of indigenous Mapuche, Aymara, and Rapa Nui villages on the property, take a cable car to the top of Chamán Hill for panoramic views, or stargaze at the winery’s private observatory—making it one of the few wineries in the world with its own telescope. Fun fact: the winery’s “Chamán” wine line is inspired by ancestral wisdom and natural elements, blending mysticism with winemaking.

Santa Cruz Winery has received numerous accolades over the years, including medals from the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles and the International Wine Challenge. Its flagship wines, especially the Chamán Reserva and Chamán Gran Reserva lines, are frequently praised for their structure, complexity, and ability to age beautifully.

Also featured at Vina Santa Cruz is the Museo del Automóvil which showcases a large collection of vintage cars, from 1890 to the 1980′s – an example of the evolution of the automotive industry in Chile. Some of the cars on display include a Ferrari 512, Porsche 928, a pair of Ford T’s, Jaguars, a Citronetas, along with the first public transport and cargo vehicles that circulated in the city of Santa Cruz.

Their latest installment is the Museo del Vino which gives visitors a glimpse into the origins and development of viticulture around the world, its evolution over time, and how it has influenced our culture.
