Colchagua Wineries

Clos de Luz Winery

Clos de Luz is a boutique winery nestled in the Almahue Valley which is part of the larger Cachapoal Valley.

Founded by Gabriel Edwards in 2015, the estate revives a legacy dating back to 1945 when his grandmother, Luz, planted some of the country’s oldest Carménère vines. These ungrafted, non-clonal vines represent 75% of their plantings, making them among the oldest in Chile.

Clos de Luz is committed to sustainable viticulture, employing organic practices and minimal intervention winemaking. They utilize native yeasts for fermentation, hand-harvest their grapes, and favor used oak barrels to highlight the fruit’s natural expression over woody notes.

The winery’s flagship wine, Luz, is a single-vineyard Carménère aged in 3,000-liter French oak foudres. With only 1,350 bottles produced, it showcases red fruit, spice, and herbal notes balanced by refreshing acidity.

Visitors to Clos de Luz can explore the estate through guided tours.
