Colchagua Wineries

Neyen Winery

Neyen Winery, a sister estate of Veramonte, specializes in crafting a single wine from the historic vines of Apalta, Colchagua. These ancient Cabernet Sauvignon vines, planted in 1889, are among the oldest in Chile and the world. Founded by the Rojas family, the winery is known for its premium red wines, especially its signature blends of Carmenère and Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine is blended with a proportion of Carmenère, which was grafted onto the vines in 1936, to create a unique and exceptional wine.

The winery itself is a beautiful combination of history and innovation. It includes the original winery built in 1890, alongside a modern, state-of-the-art facility. The vineyard practices are biodynamic, producing wines that are complex and designed for aging.

The name “Neyen,” meaning “spirit,” reflects the winery’s commitment to capturing the true essence of Apalta in each vintage.

The Rojas family lovingly restored the oldest bodega in Apalta, transforming the original 1890 adobe structure— where some of the valley’s first wines were crafted—into the heart of Neyen Winery. Many of the original architectural elements, such as wooden pillars, adobe walls, and stone fences, were incorporated into the new design, blending simplicity with functionality. The cellar houses 600 barrels, and the wine library preserves every vintage of Neyen’s renowned wines.

Visitors can enjoy guided tours that combine wine tastings with scenic nature walks and gourmet lunches amidst the vines.
