Maturana
Maturana Winery is a boutique gem that beautifully fuses family heritage, innovation, and a deep respect for the land. Founded by José Ignacio Maturana, a winemaker with decades of international experience, the winery is a true labor of love born after the devastating 2010 earthquake in Chile. Rising from the rubble of his family’s destroyed home and vineyard, Maturana returned to his roots with a mission: to create small-batch, terroir-driven wines that reflect the soul of the region.
Maturana wines are known for their authenticity and minimal intervention, allowing the character of the grapes and the land to shine through. The winery produces a diverse portfolio, including Carignan, Syrah, Cabernet Franc, and País, as well as intriguing blends that showcase lesser-known native varietals. One standout is their Torontel, made from 70-year-old vines and vinified as an orange wine — an aromatic, textured expression that’s quickly become a favorite among adventurous wine lovers.
The winery embraces sustainable practices and old-world techniques, often fermenting in amphorae and using native yeasts.
Maturana Winery holds one of the few amphora-fermented País wines in Chile, a nod to ancestral winemaking methods that predate modern viticulture. The result? Wines with depth, purity, and a story in every glass.
Maturana’s commitment to quality and innovation hasn’t gone unnoticed. Their wines have received accolades from top international critics and have been featured in prestigious wine guides like Descorchados. But despite the growing recognition, the winery remains intimate offering visitors a personalized experience complete with vineyard tours, tastings, and warm Chilean hospitality.
