Santa Cruz Winery

The Santa Cruz Winery is nestled in Colchagua’s Lolol region, the sprawling winery was launched in 2006 by local entrepreneur, Carlos Cardoen.

Wine tours begin with an enjoyable cable car ride over the vineyards which transports visitors to a hilltop to tour housing representations of the Mapuche, Aymará, and Rapa Nui indigenous groups here in Chile.

The vineyards are charming with llamas, and a faux Moai (Easter Island) statue.

The winery’s small observatory boasts the most powerful telescope in Chile outside of Chile’s astronomical observatory. Wednesday through Saturday evenings, Vina Santa Cruz offers “tour through the cosmos,” which allows visitors to stargaze at galaxies and constellations through the winery’s high-powered telescope.

Also featured at Vina Santa Cruz is the Museo del Automóvil which showcases a large collection of vintage cars, from 1890 to the 1980′s – an example of the evolution of the automotive industry in Chile. Some of the cars on display include a Ferrari 512, Porsche 928, a pair of Ford T’s, Jaguars, a Citronetas, along with the first public transport and cargo vehicles that circulated in the city of Santa Cruz.
