Biking
If your interested in exploring the area by bike there are a few bike rental services in Santa Cruz that could rent bikes to you and 2 tour operators that may offer bike wine tour packages.
You can also check with your hotel to see if they can arrange rentals for you.
If you are planning on bike riding to the wineries, just make sure to give yourself enough time to reach the next wine tour hour (most wineries here have established wine tour hours 10:30AM, 12:30PM, 3:00PM, etc).
